There is something special about fall fashion. I love everything there is to love about fall wardrobes; from the sweaters to the jackets, from the scarves to the boots. But what really makes fall fashion so fun to wear and style is the endless possibilities of adding layers. With that being the case, when it comes to layers, why stop with your wardrobe?!
This hair tutorial is one of my favorite styles to wear in the fall time. It has a layered texture without being too high maintenance for every day wear. And just like layering can take a simple outfit and turn it into a statement look, this hair style can complete virtually any outfit while still looking effortless and casual.
Here are the steps on how to create this look for yourself!
Step One
Begin with your hair down and natural. I've found this specific tutorial is best for second or third day hair. My hair is naturally thin, so by doing this hairstyle a few days after washing it, I have a lot more texture, volume, and control.
Step Two
Part hair into three even sections. One on each side of your head and one in the back.
Step Three - Five
Next, braid each separate strand into a fishtail braid. If you naturally have thin hair, consider teasing it before starting each fish tail braid to give it more volume.
To create a fishtail braid, separate each section into two smaller sections. Then, begin moving a small strand of hair to the opposite section repeatedly until you've reached the end of the strands. Secure the end of the braid with a small hairband.
Step Six
Once each section has been made into a fishtail braid, braid the three strands into one large braid. Secure with a hair band, and remove the other three hair bands that were holding the three smaller fishtail braids in place.
Tip
Once you've finished the braids, lightly tug the braid out width wise with both hands, giving the braid more volume and texture.
I like to style this hair-do with a cozy sweater, statement necklace, my favorite pair of jeans and some high-heeled boots. How would you style this look? Happy braiding!
